Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope

Thursday, August 6, 2015. The Question, the Crutch and the Cross. From visiting my Aunt Mary to sitting on the bus for people with disabilities to getting what I believe to be my second stress fracture in the opposite foot this time, a question has been slapping me in the face, a question I have spent my entire life avoiding.if God is good.then why? Why do people who love Him lose their minds? Why do I wake up sore every day? Why do parents lose their children? I wish I didn't believe He existed. But as ...

Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope: June 2015

http://www.sarahbethpoetry.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 14, 2015. From Glory to Glory: When God Calls You Out (My Sister In Law Can Preach). I miss people the most. Old friends, people that move away, even friends that still live in Abilene but switch seasons while I stay put. Thanks again precious sister-in-law. Friday, June 12, 2015. Fallen Doesn't Mean Ugly: Choosing Glitter in Ashes. Confession - this is one of my more girly posts so if you don't want to read it I understand. I have been in a time of transition "from glory to glory" as my sis...

Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope: April 2015

http://www.sarahbethpoetry.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 27, 2015. The Day(s) I Stopped Dreaming. The day(s) I stopped waiting. They came on so slowly I didn’t even notice. I woke up sore, and expected to spend this day sore, and the next day and the next day and the next,. Like a CD skipping (or Pandora losing Wifi),. My life felt convicted. I don’t say condemned because I didn’t feel that way. I was comfortable in the sore, comfortable in the pain, comfortable in C.P. because it was me. On the soreness to stop, on God to give me my dreams.

Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope: May 2015

http://www.sarahbethpoetry.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 21, 2015. All Things Through Christ: When Reality and Dreams Collide. Years of surgeries, years of fear, years of lies spoken, years of acting out in dysfunctional behavior because I felt worthless have all taught me to guard myself, to do it alone, to not want. When Jesus wooed my heart, He asked me to dream, to love, to hope, to surrender. And lately it's like I can't. And I don't want to want these things. Because I am scared. As faithful as He has been with the ESL thing my heart st...

Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope: Finding Myself: The Box I was Never Meant For and the Women I Love

http://www.sarahbethpoetry.com/2015/08/finding-myself-box-i-was-never-meant.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. Finding Myself: The Box I was Never Meant For and the Women I Love. This post is a reflection of several different conversations I've had over the past several months with several different people. My older brother told me a few months ago, "Sarah, you're great at speaking life over other people, but you're pretty awful at speaking it over yourself." Then as I spoke to my mom last night I said the words I had been thinking for years "Why can't I be like them? 1 When I embrace all ...

Poetry From a Prisoner of Hope: November 2014

Saturday, November 15, 2014. Meeting Myself: The Journey Out of Dysfunction. While I am having this tell-all, I may as well say, I also don't fit the girl mold in the standard view of wife and motherhood. I don't cook (and the thought of trying to learn is in no way appealing). I Struggle with a Capital S with cleaning, and even though I love the way my house looks with candles I can't light a match. Lies that once caused me to live in dysfunction. My new normal is electric candles and Scentsys. It i...

I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a professor, a writer, and a friend. Cleansing 10 Lepers; Healing One Soul. I was reading this morning in Luke 17: 11-19 about Jesus healing 10 lepers (read the whole story here. And a few things stood out to me:. How can I present myself to the priest? A beautiful word that means to sa...

Trusting God with our dreams AND our finances: God's 'how' with our 'what'. On Sunday, our church had a message on finances, and I was struck by one comment in particular: finances fall under the law of sowing and reaping. It looks like this, but then,.

You don't take a photograph, you make it. -Ansel Adams. Lucy–the new addition to the Mabrey Family. This is the third time I’ve been able to do a session with this lovely family! Except now, this family of three is officially a family of four. Just over 2 months ago, I did The Mabrey’s maternity photos. Before that, I did a huge extended family session. Real Talk

Let's have a REAL conversation about what's REALLY going on. Monday, April 16, 2012. I can't lose it. Last night I dreamed my husband cheated on me. Couple with this that I'm still trying to come to terms with my husband's previous relationships, my own self-esteem issues, and the overwhelming sense that I have no skill when it comes to the marriage bed. It hurts and it overwhelms and I can't let it drown me. Even though I know there is healing and rest and renewal in the arms of Christ, I push Him o...
