Now an integral part of the University of Oklahoma 4x4 Prizes in Composition and Conducting, the Michael Hennigan Prize in Composition is designed to enhance the repertoire of new music for orchestra. The Prize was created in 1998 by Carol Beesley, wife of Michael Hennigan and former art faculty professor at the University of Oklahoma, to honor her late husband. Conductors will draw lots to decide which two works of the four required they will conduct at each of the two orchestral sessions. Friday, February 5. 1:30-3:20 pm: First orchestral session, Sharp Concert Hall. Saturday, February 6. 9 am-12 noon: Second orchestral session, Sharp Concert Hall. 3 pm: Posting of winners and runners-up, Gothic Hall. Sunday, February 7.
