GAPS

Gluten Free (and then some). Friday, April 19, 2013. My Annual Allergic Reaction to Spring. Every spring since we've moved here (this is our fourth spring), I've broken out with icky, itchy rashes. I call them poison ivy, and I know at least some of them have been caused by poison ivy, but I'm fairly certain some are caused by a local tree pollen. (I came up negative on all my allergy tests, so they weren't any help in figuring out what the culprit is.). I guess it depends on your perspective. I haven't ...

GAPS: GAPS Intro Week 6

http://1001goals-gaps.blogspot.com/2013/01/gaps-intro-week-6.html

Gluten Free (and then some). Tuesday, January 22, 2013. GAPS Intro Week 6. LMS during her Irish music class recital back in December. Read why we're doing GAPS here. Read about our GAPS Intro Week 1 here. Read about our GAPS Intro Week 2 here. Read about our GAPS Intro Week 3 here. Read about our GAPS Intro Week 4 here. Read about our GAPS Intro Week 5 here. So, we finished Week 6 more than a month ago, but with Christmas travels and our Disney trip I didn't get this written and posted. GAPS Intro Week 6.

GAPS: Who Am I?

http://1001goals-gaps.blogspot.com/p/who-am-i-im-thirty-something-wife-and.html

Gluten Free (and then some). I'm a thirty-something wife and mother working on accomplishing my goals. Some of them are goals I've had for years, others are more recent additions to my list. Some take a lot of work, others not so much. Either way, I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment as I learn from them and complete them. Me, our Little Miss Sunshine, and Mr. Mellow, who balances me out nicely. I like to make lots of goals, even if I don’t always meet them as quickly as I’d like. The current list of fo...

GAPS: CSA

http://1001goals-gaps.blogspot.com/2013/03/csa.html

Gluten Free (and then some). Friday, March 15, 2013. Pretty spring flowers we bought yesterday. I've wanted to join a CSA for 3 or 4 years now, but could never quite justify the cost in my mind. Then I realized I was going to the grocery store and only buying produce and spending X amount of dollars to do it. I vaguely recalled that the CSA's I'd investigated were not that expensive. I really like how flexible our CSA is:. Monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly options. Small, medium, and large boxes of produce.

GAPS: Another reason GAPS is what I need right now

http://1001goals-gaps.blogspot.com/2013/02/another-reason-gaps-is-what-i-need.html

Gluten Free (and then some). Thursday, February 21, 2013. Another reason GAPS is what I need right now. Remember how I said we'd made progress just in the 7 or so weeks we did GAPS before Christmas? We were able to eat things over Christmas and at Disney that usually give us problems, but with fewer problems. Something else happened too. My cycle regulated enough for this to happen:. Super crazy, right? Labels: Cheating on GAPS. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Gluten free (and then some). Thursday, December 13, 2012. Easy Fall Neckerchief Slide. I made this for the month of November, but for a variety of reasons, we didn't have time to actually make them with the boys. I thought I'd share it anyway. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Homeschooling: Cotter Tens Fractal

http://1001goals-homeschooling.blogspot.com/2013/01/cotter-tens-fractal.html

Gluten free (and then some). Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Looks kind of like a Christmas tree. This is something LMS and I did in math (we're using RightStart Math Level B. And is a great way to visualize numbers. The huge triangle is made of 10 smaller triangles. Those triangles are in turn made of 10 smaller triangles, and those triangles are also made of 10 smaller triangles. 1000 small triangles = 100 medium triangles = 10 large triangles = 1 giant triangle. This took a lot of time and a lot of glue st...

Gluten Free (and then some): August 2011

http://1001goals-glutenfree.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Gluten free (and then some). Saturday, August 20, 2011. I've decided to periodically do a post about what we ate on a given day, mostly to demonstrate that we actually do eat well :). Thursday we ate paleo Coconut Flour Waffles. For lunch we had leftover Chicken and Vegetable Lo-Mein. That I made for dinner Tuesday night. I really liked this recipe and while LMS wasn't a big fan, I'm hoping that's just because I've been trying a lot of new recipes lately. For dinner we made Grilled Chicken and Veggies.

Gluten free (and then some). Wednesday, August 1, 2012. LMS is getting so brave- here she's diving off the diving rock! Since I wrote down some new goals. I thought I should track my progress at the end of each month. So here's how I did in the month of July:. June's progress report can be found here. A few goals under Health. 1 keep strengthening my knee and start running for longer periods of time/distance. 2 train for and run at least 4 races by the end of 2012 (at least one half marathon). Gluten Free (and then some): Nightshade Free Sweet Dry Rub

http://1001goals-glutenfree.blogspot.com/2012/09/nightshade-free-sweet-dry-rub.html

Gluten free (and then some). Friday, September 21, 2012. Nightshade Free Sweet Dry Rub. When I made ribs this week, I first had to make the BBQ sauce. And the dry rub. BBQ rubs usually have paprika in them, but paprika is made from peppers and I can't eat it, even in small amounts. Because of the lack of paprika and the presence of black pepper, this rub is a bit peppery instead of spicy. Adapted from a recipe found here. Other ideas are there as well). 6 Tbl brown sugar. 3 Tbl ground black pepper.

Homeschooling: April 2012

http://1001goals-homeschooling.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Gluten free (and then some). Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Using rubberbands to make patterns on the RightStart Math geoboards. Recently I've been thinking about when to end this school year. Initially I wanted to be done with kindergarten by Memorial Day so we could have the whole summer off. But then I reconsidered what our school schedule should be. A traditional 9 months on, 3 months off? I like the idea of not doing schoolwork for 3 months, but didn't like the idea of wasting time doing review in the fall.

http://1001goals-projects.blogspot.com/2013/04/updated-little-girls-closet-room.html

Gluten free (and then some). Thursday, April 11, 2013. Updated Little Girl's Closet and Room. This project took awhile (I started LMS' room 2 years ago when we first moved in) and went through a couple of incarnations before it finally got to a point where I can call it finished. The closet is deep on both sides, which caused problems when it came to figuring out the best shelf/closet rod combination. It started out as this:. Not a great before picture, but it's all I've got. Then looked like this:.

Adoption

Gluten free (and then some). Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Almost a year to the day from when we first met with our case worker at LDS Family Services. We have been officially approved to adopt! Our profile is now live on itsaboutlove.org. And we can start searching for a birthmother. LDS Family Services works with birth mothers regardless of religious beliefs or financial situation, so if you know of anyone who is pregnant and thinking about adoption, please let us know. Cub Scouts

Gluten free (and then some). Friday, May 3, 2013. Cub Scout Neckerchief Slide Holder. Each month we make a neckerchief slide with the Cub Scouts. Part of this is because it’s fun, part because it helps them get started on a collection (which is one of the requirements they need to complete to get their Wolf badge). In reviewing the steps to achieving their collection requirement, we realized the boys need a way to display their collection. But I couldn’t stop there J. Little Miss Sunshine participates in...

Gluten Free (and then some)

Gluten free (and then some). Monday, March 18, 2013. A picture I found of me leaping (unsuccessfully, I might add) over a stream during the mud run. Isn't my outfit super attractive? Over the last few years, I've learned to pay attention to my body and can usually identify when I'm reacting to something I ate. I've also learned to watch the Little Miss for her reactions. That said, I still sometimes miss things. Recently I've finally made another connection that has eluded me for months. My super-sensiti...

Gluten free (and then some). Monday, April 8, 2013. Ever had dill pickle potato chips before? They're not too bad- we had them at the Canadian section of Epcot (it's a Canadian brand), though I'm sure that little bag we bought cost more than this big bag I found at Marshalls. And yes, those are ketchup flavored potato chips next to them. ewwww! I updated my goals in January. And here's the progress I made in March. February's progress can be seen here. Homeschooling

Gluten free (and then some). Sunday, April 21, 2013. We tried a year-round schedule this year, so we've been doing a rotation of 3 weeks of school/1 week of vacation, with a 3 week break at Christmas and another in July. LMS and I have discussed it and agree that we really like this schedule. However, LMS told me she'd prefer "three weeks of vacation and one week of school". Hmmm, I don't know what kid wouldn't prefer that schedule. But it's not going to happen :). Links to this post. I missed out on a t...

Projects

Gluten free (and then some). Wednesday, May 1, 2013. The guest room is one of the few rooms in our house that had been painted since it had been built. Once we saw the empty room though, it was obvious it wasn't a recent paint job- it was a grungy pale yellow with various marks all over. And the piece de resistance: the crayon colored ceiling fan. So hideous! In this case, some white paint lightened the color to a shade I liked. I didn't want standard crown in here, I wanted something that would go with ...
